Humane Education Youth Programs
The goal of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley’s Humane Education program is to encourage children to become champions of animals in need and help the next generation learn to be stewards of our companion animal friends. November 11 Art & Animals Camp a Great Success!

Our November 11 Art & Animals Camp was a great success.  Campers spent the day creating beautiful artwork that was then displayed throughout the Shelter for everyone to enjoy!

Our Programs


Camps

Humane Education camps offer a unique experience by giving campers a chance to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals through lessons around responsible pet guardianship, veterinary care, philanthropy and community volunteerism. All camps include an animal safety lesson, a behind-the-scenes tour of the shelter and veterinary clinic and plenty of animal interaction. Snacks are provided. Campers must bring a sack lunch.

Dates: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Boulder Valley School District holidays and in-service days

Program Fee: $60 per day

Eligibility: Children ages 6-10
Registration: Online only, opens two weeks before camp date. Email catherine.casper@boulderhumane.org to be added to our email notification list to receive registration updates.


Scout Badge Programs

Daisy Girl Scouts and Brownies Animals Try It Badge
Daisy Girl Scouts and Brownies learn about our organization, animal behavior and safety, and the difference between wild and domestic animals. The girls will also have an opportunity to walk a shelter dog. You provide the badge; we provide the fun-filled educational experience.

Junior Girl Scouts and Girl Scouts Pet Care Badge
Junior Girl Scouts and Girl Scouts learn about our organization, responsible pet guardianship including the facts of life and keeping our pets healthy, animal behavior and safety, and ways to help our companion animal friends. The girls will also have an opportunity to walk a shelter dog. You provide the badge; we provide the fun-filled educational experience.

Dates: 2-hour programs scheduled days and evenings by appointment
Program Fee: $2.50 per scout
Registration: Call (303) 442-4030 ext. 613 or email catherine.casper@boulderhumane.org at least three weeks in advance


Tours

Educational, behind-the-scenes tours provide an introduction to our organization, responsible pet guardianship and ways to help our companion animal friends.

Dates: 45-minute tours scheduled Monday through Friday by appointment
Program Fee: $25 per group
Eligibility: Adults and children ages 6 and up; maximum 12 participants
Registration: Call (303) 442-4030 ext. 613 or email catherine.casper@boulderhumane.org at least two weeks in advance.


Birthday Parties

Birthday parties include:

  • Animal behavior and safety lesson
  • Behind-the-scenes tour of the shelter
  • Visit with a shelter cat and dog
  • Fun, engaging and educational activity to share with your friends
  • Party favor goodie bags provided
  • Time to spend with friends and family
Families are welcome to bring cake, drinks, and paper supplies for their party. Donations for the animals in our care are gladly accepted – view our wish list online at boulderhumane.org – the animals will thank you!

Dates: 2-hour program Fridays 3-6pm, Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-1 p.m. or 1-3 p.m.
Program Fee: $150
Eligibility: Ages 5 and up; maximum 10 participants including birthday child
