Adoption Packages

Dog Adoption Package

Along with your new canine companion, your adoption package includes:

  • Collar
  • Microchip (registration and maintenanceĀ fees apply)
  • Sterilization surgery
  • Rabies vaccination (for dogs 4 months and older)
  • Distemper/Parvo vaccine
  • Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine
  • Preventative deworming treatment
  • 30 days of free pet insurance through MetLifeĀ 
  • Free new adoption exam from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley’s veterinary hospital or other local veterinarians. View a list of clinics in Boulder and surrounding areas that provide this service. If you already use a clinic that is not on the list, you can ask them if they also provide a free exam.

Vaccinations for animals in the shelter are administered to protect the individual as well as the entire animal population against diseases which are of greatest concern in the shelter environment.

This animal is NOT considered “fully vaccinated” until an examination by a veterinarian post-adoption has reviewed his/her medical history and assessed his/her current and future risks of disease.

Cat Adoption Package

Along with your new feline companion, your adoption package includes:

  • Microchip (registration and maintenance fees may apply)
  • Cardboard travel case
  • Sterilization surgery
  • Rabies vaccination (for cats 4 months and older)
  • Vaccinations for feline distemper and upper respiratory virus
  • Preventative deworming treatment
  • 30 days of free pet insurance through MetLifeĀ 
  • Free new adoption exam from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley’s veterinary hospital or other local veterinarians. View a list of clinics in Boulder and surrounding areas that provide this service. If you already use a clinic that is not on the list, you can ask them if they also provide a free exam.

While some of our cats are screened for FeLV/FIV, many healthy cats have not been tested for these diseases. We offer a simple test at the time of adoption for $48 to verify FeLV/FIV status.

While there is a person for every animal, we know not every animal is for every person.
If you adopt an animal from HSBV and discover you are not compatible due to behavior concerns or medical issues,
you may return your pet at any time.

Your adoption fee will be refunded if returning an animal within 30 days of adoption.
