A Boulder native, Jackie has had a lifetime curiosity about animals’ internal experiences. What are they thinking and feeling? What makes them behave the way they do? After years of detours in other fields, she came to HSBV as a volunteer in 2017. She was quickly drawn towards animal training and behavior, hoping to help animals with a history of fearful and anxious behavior feel more comfortable. She is now working on a master’s degree in Applied Animal Behavior and Welfare from Virginia Tech University.
Jackie lives in Boulder with her husband, two dogs, two cats, and countless plants. When not working with animals or on her degree, she likes to travel, climb, run, sing, and do anything she can outside, especially with her dogs.
